The Starburst Minis have been out since 2013. That’s 5 years ago. How in the heck have we not reviewed these babies yet?
I like sour. These are indeed, that. Not as much as Sour Patch Kids, but not a simple tartness either.
Check. One star.
I like chewy candies with this consistency: a little denser than real-size Starbursts, and grittier.
Check. That’s 2 stars.
The watermelon, cherry and strawberry flavors are just ok. The blue raspberry makes the overall taste just middle of the road. When you grab one of the minis, and eat, you likely won’t know the flavor. Especially because these little things are small enough that you’ll grab more than one, and eat more than one at a time.
Boring flavors that don’t sing. That’s zero stars.
The shape is like a piece of chiclet gum (WHICH HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED! WHAT?!! ), but about a half inch smaller and a quarter inch thicker. I feel like I could manage a handful at once. And, no extra packaging. Dig your hand in the bag and eat.
I like. Add a star.
The 8 oz. bag I bought had a really solid amount of candy in it. Also something I like. But you don’t get extra stars just because the amount in the bag, sorry Wrigley company (maker of Starburst).
We’ve said in the past that Starburst may have lost a step to Hi-Chews and other all-natural up and comers like Torie and Howard’s chews. I gave the mini Starbursts 3 stars, but I’d buy again, and if the flavors ever get good? These could be rockin’. HEAVY potentch.
