You know the drill: Haribo releases a new variety, you get it, and it’s great! Still, it’s really just a different shaped gummy, right? Same Haribo flavors, but different cute shapes?

This was just “the way it was” for a while. In recent years, however, Haribo is really stepping outside of their comfort zone and trying some new things. Most recently, these Air-Drops.

They come in 2 flavors: mint, which I didn’t procure, and blackcurrant, which I will always buy because it is amazing. Both flavors are individually wrapped (LOVE THIS) gummies that are also infused with menthol.

Menthol can be tricky; too much and it’s just unbearable. But Haribo knows best, and boy did they do the flavor distribution right on these. The gummies are super sproingy, at first they feel much more firm than normal, but…they’re not. And then we get blasted with the rich, floral blackcurrant taste that never fails to please. It’s the grape of the UK, and while both of us Candy Gurus love grape candy, this is better than 90% of it (Japanese Concord grape candy is the main exception — listen and learn kids). It’s a beautiful fruit that will always remind me of the UK, simply for their candies.

So you get hit with blackcurrant, but under it is a mellow wave of menthol that absolutely enhances the overall flavor.

Does it freshen your breath? I don’t know.
Is there a reason they’re individually wrapped? Unclear.
Do I care? Not a bit.
Because I’m buying these wherever I see them. They’re that good. And I’m concerned I won’t have access to them soon, because the only place I’ve seen them in the real world is World Market.

Will I ever try the mint? Sure! I’ll do that “10 bags of blackcurrant, one bag of mint” thing that people do.

People do that, right?

In the event that you can’t wait, you can try the mint ones here. Maybe more shops that carry the blackcurrant lovelies – like the German Deli store – will come onboard soon.

Why do you love that they are each individually wrapped? I saw this photo and had a reflexive “eww” when I saw that they were all individually wrapped. Not so much for the environmental impact (though…not great!) but it just rubs me the wrong way. But these sound tasty which of course is the major deciding factor

Ahh my Paduan. Because individually wrapped I can throw a few in my bag, the car, etc. game changer
