Wholeme Grain-free Clusters: Salted Peanut Chocolate

Sometimes good for you isn't good. Even though it is actually 'for you'

I’m all for trying to find healthy candy. The older I get, the less sugar the better. So my doctor would say. I assume. If I ever went to the doctor.

Mrs. Guru went to Whole Foods and got these Wholeme Salted Peanut Chocolate Clusters.

Gosh I wanted to like them. With coconut, honey, real peanut butter, sunflower seeds, dark chocolate and sea salt. What’s not to like? How couldn’t these be good?

Because these aren’t that good.

Where’s the chocolate? Not much in there. Look at the pic above. See any?

I thought the Wholeme Clusters would be crunchy like an Almond Roca but that was a bad assumption. These clusters are soft, almost like a half baked cookie. And although they are “grain-free,” which means also gluten free, I would actually describe them as grainy.

The good part is they taste like peanut butter. In fact, so much so, that I’d quite literally think – if my eyes were closed – they were simply a glob of dry peanut butter with grains and seeds. But no chocolate. I can’t actually say I could taste chocolate. In fact, I can’t. Peanut butter and sunflower seeds. That’s what you get.

So… 2 stars to Wholeme for giving these a go. But they’re just not that great. And if this is what ‘good-for-me’ is going to taste like, I’ll take the bad.
